Why Linux?

This is a question I have been asked many times from Windows user's.
There are many good reasons to try Linux to see if it is right for you.
One of the main reasons is the stability of Linux as it is not plagued by viruses and spyware as a windows computer is. Also linux can be a less demanding OS, hence it can run on older hardware.
Though there are many distros(or versions) of Linux out there, Ubuntu has become a favorite in the Linux and tech community with its stability and friendly user interface.

The Ubuntu Advantage

Security:
Security has become a major concern for Window's user as their PC's have become targets for viruses, spyware, trojan horses, and the list goes on. Window's users have to install anti-viruses and security suites to protect themselves from all these attacks. These precautions ,while trying to protect the computer, normally slows the computers performance down as these programs need to run in the back ground to monitor the computers activity.

Customization:

The possibilities are endless when it comes to customizing the Ubuntu environment. The desktop can reflect the user from backgrounds, folder icons, colors, and how applications can be launched. So many open source programs are written to assist the user in this way.
